Conti has installed more than 2.5 million square feet of slurry walls at Superfund and other sites, to various depths and in widely varying soil conditions. These include dense rock-like layers of cementatious sand and ironstone, and through a trash layer contaminated with a range of compounds that required continuous use of level B and C Personnel Protective Equipment. We have built walls to depths of 90 feet and lengths of over three miles.

We own specialized equipment, such as extended-stick backhoes capable of excavating trenches to 95 feet, for slurry wall installation. For the Baltimore Works project in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, we developed a new Deep Slurry Wall Construction System. Our new method incorporated technologies from the mining, dredging, and materials handling industries to excavate and remove trench spoils, separate spoils from the excavation slurry and provide a superior material for backfill mix.
